2016 PINOT NOIR DOMAINE DU DOCTEUR RODGERS

Tasting notes: Domaine du Docteur Rodgers (DDR) is a “rich, luscious Pinot Noir with a smilax bouquet.” We shared this and our other releases with the first sommelier to hold both the Master of Wine and Master Sommelier titles, Ronn Wiegand whose tasting notes we share throughout this letter: “Outstanding (⁕⁕⁕⁕⁕) ‒ Full red color with a purple tint. An outstanding vintage for DDR. It is very aromatic and distinctive in the nose (kola nut, cherry, bay leaf, red licorice, toast, vanilla). On the palate, it is supple, rich, and finely balanced, with a long flavor evolution mid-palate, and an extraordinarily long finish — it just won't quit! — with evident oak and tannin. Shows extremely well now, but I think it is likely to be at its best from 2023 through 2027, possibly longer. Fantastic vintage of this wine.”
